Flow switches, pressure switches and gauges provide the monitoring and alarm signalling that automatic sprinkler systems depend on to alert occupants and the fire brigade the moment a sprinkler activates.

Flow Switches A paddle-type flow switch is fitted directly into the sprinkler pipework (typically on each zone's distribution pipe, downstream of the zone control valve) with a paddle extending into the water flow. When water moves through the pipe - because a sprinkler has activated - the paddle deflects and, after a short factory-set time delay to avoid false alarms from pressure surges, triggers an electrical signal to the fire alarm panel.

Pressure Switches Pressure switches are fitted to alarm valve trim and dry/pre-action systems to detect a fall or rise in system pressure, signalling both fire alarm activation and supervisory conditions such as low air pressure on a dry system.

Pressure Gauges Glycerine-filled pressure gauges are fitted upstream and downstream of every alarm valve, and on the air side of dry and pre-action systems, for visual local monitoring and as part of the periodic inspection routine required by EN 12845.

All devices are supplied in ranges and connection sizes to match the valves and pipework of the system, tested to EN 12259.
