Fires in fume cabinets are common and extremely high risk. The functionality of a fume cabinet, and the substances it handles - including infectious, corrosive or toxic gases, vapours and fumes - make it especially vulnerable to fire. In the event of a fire the consequences can be disastrous, both to the equipment and to the safety of laboratory staff. Reacton provides fume cabinet protection in a variety of sizes, with different extinguishing agents chosen to suit the specific chemicals and materials in use.

APPLICATIONS AND RISK AREAS: • Excess debris - build-up that overheats and ignites • Human error - increased threat to human life • Outdated infrastructure - lacking modern safety measures • Incorrect material usage - devastating fires from incompatible chemical combinations • Lack of maintenance - leads to excess debris and mistreatment of hazardous materials

HOW THE REACTON SYSTEM WORKS: Reacton's UL-approved pneumatic detection tube bursts when fire is detected, activating the system. The clean agent is released through discharge hoses and nozzles to combat the fire rapidly and effectively, preventing reignition. Fume cabinet protection uses a range of specialist agents including ABC/BC Dry Powder and 3M™ Novec™ 1230 - an environmentally friendly clean agent that leaves no residue, providing zero clean-up alongside excellent extinguishing performance.

ADVANTAGES OF A REACTON SYSTEM: • Fully automatic - detects and activates without any external power source • Rapid detection and immediate agent delivery, typically in under 10 seconds • 24/7 protection with zero false alarms • Extremely low maintenance • 10-year service life, 3-year warranty on all parts • Compact and lightweight, simple to install • Suitable for both new-build (OEM) and retrofit installations

APPROVALS: • UL Listed - detection tube as a Heat-Automatic Fire Detector component (S36434)
